Hepatitis A, B, and C Tests
Hepatitis Panel (Acute) A, B & C
Hepatitis A
There are two versions of the test which detect antibodies.
Testing for IgG antibodies is used for long-term self-monitoring. These lab tests detect both current and previous infection with the hepatitis A virus.
Hepatitis B
There are several tests used to detect the presence of hepatitis B antibodies. The hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs) is what we use. Its presence indicates previous exposure to HBV.
Hepatitis C
Anti-HCV tests detect the presence of antibodies to the virus, indicating exposure to HCV. These tests cannot tell if you still have an active viral infection, only that you were exposed to the virus in the past. Usually, the test is reported as “positive” or “negative.”
